Our baby elk is a girl! At first we named her Faith, but after everything we've read, it was a miracle she was born this time of year and even more of a miracle she was still with us. We decided to name her Miss Miracle♥ We tried to get our baby elk to take a bottle and she just wouldn't. We searched the internet and tried everything mentioned and she still wouldn't. By the next evening, we knew to give her any chance at all, we had to tube feed her. Scott was prepared and had all the tubing and powdered colostrum. After watching You Tube on how to perform a tube feeding, Scott held her while I inserted the tube. She tolerated the feeding well, giving her 4 oz. We started the tube feedings every 4 hours, even getting up in the middle of the night. After getting some nutrition into her, Miss Miracle started having more energy. In the evening we brought her into the family room, sitting her next to Scott. She sat quietly, getting used to us. She was a little wobbly on her legs but was able to stand well. We love our Miss Miracle.

Scott went out to feed the elk before heading to work and text me this picture, saying Look what I found in the elk pen this morning! Our Rachel is a mom. Scott had mentioned she was getting filled out, but we never thought she'd be having a baby. Typically, elk are always born in the late spring and early summer months. Scott mentioned elk born this time of the year was not normal as they'd have a difficult time making it through the cold winters. He was also concerned that the baby was in view by our fence as most mom elks hide their babies for the first weeks to protect them. Scott went to work and we both thought of the baby elk all day. That evening I checked on the baby and saw it following mom. The baby was weak and cold and could barely walk. It tried nursing several times, but mom just walked away. Scott got home later and said mom likely had no milk. We wanted to try and save the baby... so Scott and Randy went into the pen to get it. I was nervous thinking about what the elk might do to them, but thankfully, the baby was right near the fence and they were able to get her quickly. Scott carried the baby elk into the house, putting it in a cage we had ready.

Usually every Thanksgiving weekend, we try and have our family picture taken since we're all together. We were unable to find someone to take the pictures so Charles came up with the idea of hooking my phone up to a tripod and setting the timer for 10 seconds. We had lots of fun working on the timing and finding a location without too much sun. Randy came up with the idea of the pitchfork and it all worked together. The pictures didn't come out as clear as I'd like, but I'm still glad we have them.
Saturday was a work day on the farm...a productive one. Scott often hears me saying "Lets be productive today and accomplish a task." He just looks at me and smiles...at least I think he's smiling. Ha! Ethan is home from college this weekend and Scott's main helper. Together they put in the new farm gate.

The day after Thanksgiving was a perfect day to get the go-kart track up and running again. All the guys were home and Randy's buddy, DL, was here to spend the day on the farm....and he was all in. Charles hopped on the tractor to clear the field. Next step was smoothing the track with cinder blocks and then wetting the track down. Ethan worked on the go karts, tuning them up. Finally, all was ready. I was able to take a few pictures before the sun went down. It was a total guy day.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 100: 4-5
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Our family and friends were able to gather once more for a day of thanks...the Lord's blessings are indeed overflowing. We spent our day, like many, gathered around our table, catching up on each other's lives, doing lots of eating and enjoying one another's fellowship. I think everyone's favorite part of the meal was sharing what we're thankful for and the love of God and family was in everyone's hearts. We sat around the table for several hours telling stories, laughing and eating delicious pie. I thank the Lord for the redemption through His son, Jesus Christ,,,give thanks to Him and bless His holy name! Happy Thanksgiving to our family and friends♥
