Now that our renters have moved out, it's time to repair our Virginia farmhouse. It's disheartening watching people not take care of your home place, but we're back to the grindstone, fixing the place up. Today, Randy, Emily and I worked on the house and yard. I was on the mower most of the day while Randy and Emily managed the trimming.... and apparently having lots of fun while doing it. By the end of the day, Emily was using her hammer like a pro.

After our TRW reunion, we took a drive down Nick's Creek Road, Atkins VA, to our old apartment. We lived in number two, second from the left. In 1989, we moved from Kansas when I was over 8 months pregnant with Randy. This was his first home. Below is a picture of the Appalachian Trail as it crosses Nick's Creek Road a couple miles from our apartment.

What a blessing it was to participate in today's fundraising event at McDonald Hills Golf Course for the Brooks family. Their son, JT, suffered a C-6 spinal cord injury this spring while playing football at high school, paralyzing him from the chest down. He and his family have been at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, undergoing an intense rehab program. Meanwhile our community is joining together, raising funds for specialized weight equipment that JT will need to continue his rehab at home. The support at our fundraiser today was overwhelming and heart moving to say the least. Scott and I volunteered as "water boy and girl" at the 17th hole, offering water/Gatoraide to the golfers. We learned a lot about the game and enjoyed visiting as we knew most of the golfers...the perks of living in a small community. Please keep JT and his family in your prayers as they walk through this journey and may God be glorified. You can check out JT's journey here thefightfor5.com

Brittney has been working at TRW this past year as a co-op with Scott. Today she celebrated her last working day with a special lunch with her coworkers...and I was invited. I'm sure she would agree that TRW provided her with a fantastic co-op experience. Scott said she is now well prepared to enter the engineering work force with her experience gained this past year! On the outside we've watched her grow into a confident young woman, holding her own with engineers....we're so proud of you Brittney. You'll be in our prayers as you head back to TTU to complete your engineering degree.
