And Another Storm

We woke up this morning to five more inches of snow covering the ground like marshmallow cream. I don't think I've seen a more beautiful snow. It's hard to describe, but as I looked around, there was this silence that only comes with a blanket of snow. Thank you God for your beautiful world you created for us!  My babe still had to go to work; through all these storms, he never missed a day. I snow shoveled our sidewalk and a path to his truck so his shoes wouldn't get snowy♥  I'm spending my day working on a nine patch quilt from scraps of material... I can't remember the last time schools have been closed for two straight weeks! March is around the corner and warmer temperatures are on their way, but what an awesome February this has been.

More Snow

Monday came another storm which brought an additional 3 inches of snow.  You may be wondering why I keep blogging snow, but it's so unusual in Tennessee to have the temperatures this cold for this long and the snows which keep piling up. This morning's temperature was in the low 20's  and the slush from the day before was frozen.  Scott said "Now this is just like New York."  I'm sure he wishes to have his snowmobile out, but instead went to work. It was another snow day for me.  Later that afternoon I fed the elk and took these pictures. As you can tell, I never tire of taking their pictures.  PS. Just watched the weather and they're calling for yet another storm Wednesday night. Yahoo!

Sledding With The Royston Family

Sunday afternoon Jason, Mandy and the kids came over for some sledding on our back hill. Scott got our LL Bean toboggan out of storage from our garage; the same sled the boys used when they were younger. It was nice to be able to use it again, which doesn't happen often in Tennessee. Scott pulled the kids on the four wheeler and we all headed out back to our hill.  The snow was a little slushy which made the sledding slower, but it was perfect for the kids. We took turns going down the hill with all the sleds and trust me, every time we went down we had to walk up! Scott went down the hill standing on the tobaggan and soon the boys followed. Afterwards we all headed back to the house where I introduced Jeremiah and Sam to the game of Booby Trap while their clothes dried in the dryer. Thank you Mandy and Jason for a wonderful day♥

Neighborly Kindness

Our next door neighbor, Steve, came over on his tractor and scraped our driveway. What an awesome surprise. We have the best neighbors and count them as our dear friends.  We're always there for each other, plus I have Steve trained...whenever I get the camera out, he stops and smiles!

Our Big Snow

Here are all the pictures of our day.  This New Yorker and gal from Utah were thrilled to wake up to snow and what  a surprise it was.  The forecast called for a couple inches with the snow turning into sleet and finally rain.  But the cold temperatures held off all morning to a beautiful snowfall of almost 7 inches with big flakes falling from the sky.  We spent the morning outside and even watched some snowboarding in front of our house which of course reminded me of the boys. By the time Scott fed the cows in the late afternoon the rain began and it's supposed to rain all evening. Hoping this white stuff hangs around for awhile but wouldn't be surprised to see green grass in the morning.  What an awesome day!
