♫ Oh Christmas Tree

We didn't have far to go for our Christmas tree this year. When we bought the farm, this spruce had already been planted...unfortunately the previous owners planted the tree only three feet from the house. We hated to cut it down, but it needed to go. Scott said it would make a great Christmas tree so we waited until December. On the plus side, I can hang all my heavy ornaments this year as the limbs are much stronger than cedars. On the down side, the needles sure hurt when you touch them...it's a spruce!

Down she goes.
And here is our Christmas tree.

Becky And Her Girls

From Brenda's blog....My favorite picture of our time with Becky this week... It feels like she just got here and now she is already flying home to Scott & the boys in Tennessee this morning. She misses them when she is here, misses us when she is there. Same here. Saying goodbye to her is only slightly easier because she is going home to her family and life she loves. She and her family are never far away from any of us, always in our hearts and prayers. Always. Thank goodness for blogs that share our pictures and thoughts throughout the year with each other. Yes, I blog for my personal family history, but truth me told, I blog for Becky. It's all of the the seemingly small details of life that hold us close together, whether they are joyful, painful or downright humorous- depending on the day...they are always happier or more bearable when we share them with each other.

Black Friday

From Brenda's blog...Black Friday is an experience we know very little about. It is a day we STAY AWAY FROM THE CROWDS. Quite wisely I may add and now, Black Friday begins on Thanksgiving Day. Crazy! There was something on sale for a great deal at Toys r Us at 10pm on Thanksgiving night and Becky & I ventured out. The line was easily 5 feet wide and stretched out past RC Willey and down the side street. Thousands of people. We drove past and went home. This experience is not for us. The kids thought they would go to Walmart at midnight for their movie DVD's and games, only to be completely overwhelmed especially once they took their purchases and found the 2 hour line to save $10. They all headed home with empty arms and tired. We are all a bit wiser. Later in the day, when the crowds lightened up, we headed to Gap for 40% off and Lindsey quickly undressed a mannequin that was perfectly dressed for Tyler :)

Picking out the Tree

From Brenda's blog....The tree farm in Highland has been a Christmas tradition for the life of our children... the day after Thanksgiving. This year my sister Becky was with us and we quickly found the perfect tree to take home.

Thanksgiving Day

From Brenda's blog...We woke up to a perfect blue sky, freezing cold day. The snow on the ground is crunchy and the coldness outside fills like pin pricks. Hands down... Thanksgiving week is my most favorite time of the year, as my thoughts turn to my blessings, many I have ungratefully overlooked throughout the year. This is a good reflection time. Looking back on this year and the years before, many of the hard times have become blessings when healed with time, or at least that is what I tell myself, hoping that I will believe it more fully one day. It's true what they say about when we focus on our self... our world gets very small, our problems large. The Lord knew what he was doing when he placed us all here together so we could take turns serving one another and be able to more completely feel His love for us. Today I am grateful for being able to serve and love others throughout my life and I am grateful for those that have served and continue to love me. I am thankful for the gospel in my life, for my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ and for the Atonement that makes getting back to Him possible one day. I am thankful for my family & friends. I am thankful for those I work with. With my sister Becky's encouragement, it is time to create a new mindset of thankfulness beginning today.

Ashlee created the table decorations and we each wrote what we are thankful for on our leaves for the centerpiece... our testimonies and family were at the very top of our lists. A yummy dinner, topped off with six pies sent us all over the top. Easily a 5lb weight gain kind of day. We all missed the rest of Becky's family- Scott, Charles, Randy & Ethan and are thinking about them. Thank you for sharing Becky with us!

9 Degree Turkey Bowl

From Brenda's blog....It was a needle pricking 9 degrees this morning as we watched the football game of Larry, Ransom and Tyler. We took miserable pictures of ourselves and stayed for as long as we could endure the cold and then headed home for hot showers and cocoa. Becky said that her boys would be hunting instead of playing football on Thanksgiving. Larry will be sore for a week.

Game Night

From Brenda's blog.....We are still clearing the fridge and cupboards of leftovers. Our idea of no pie on Thanksgiving ended with two freshly made pumpkin pies, two chocolate pudding pies, one banana cream pie and a pecan pie too... the smells of Thanksgiving. YUM!

Tonight we had game night and just hung out: Canadian Salad, Lucky Under's, Celebrity and Mafia. When Becky and I ended up being the Police at the same time, we could not stop giggling and we had to start over. Conrad filled just about every empty container he could get his hands on with water and did a lot of 'baking'. Phoebe's diaper exploded on Becky... even Katie wasn't quite sure what to do with her. Becky's big bag of Mike & Ike's are slowly disappearing and
I wish time would stand still for a very long while.

Tyler and Lindsey Opening Presents

I copied this from Brenda's blog.... Lindsey and Tyler are back and happy! We invited Tyler's parents over for a Panini Sandwich and Tomato Soup dinner and we settled in to watch them open their wedding presents. I do believe some of the girls peaked inside before handing them off to Lindsey and Tyler. Ashlee took notes and afterwards, we played Canadian Salad, a first for Becky and had what else for dessert? PIE! It is official. We are not wanting pie for Thanksgiving, but bring on the dressing!

Days With My Family

After the wedding we got to relax and just hang out. I was happy to just be near my sister and nieces and holding little Phoebe. I had my picture taken on Ashlee's porch...We spent time playing games, shopping, watching movies, visiting Pebbles, eating lots of left over pie from the reception and eating panini sandwiches. We planned for Thanksgiving day and somehow the days rolled by.

Here I am in front of Ashlee's porch.

Abby is driving now with her learner's permit and what a good driver she is!

A Reunion With My Dear Friends

While in Utah I had the chance to reunite with my dear friends growing up. What a special day. I hadn't seen Jeanie or Wendy since highschool. We were all "wardies" growing up, living in the same church ward and friends through thick and thin. We met at the Brick Oven, one of my favorite places to eat, next to BYU. We hugged, laughed and cried for the next 3 hours going over our memories and catching up on our lives. Thanks Anita for arranging the special day...and facebooking it. I think we all look great at 49 years♥

Tyler and Lindsey's Wedding Day

The wedding day was absolutely perfect. Tyler and Lindsey were married in the Provo LDS Temple and even though I couldn't actually see the ceremony, I wouldn't have missed it for the world. When they came out I had tears in my eyes. I love them both so much and feel blessed to have been a part of their special day. We welcome Tyler into our family♥

Off to Utah

The day I was anticipating was finally here...home to Utah for a visit. As we flew over Utah Valley, my excitement grew when I saw Timpanogos and Cascade Mountains. I've climbed both and Timp. twice! We live at the base of these mountains and they are forever in my heart. In just a few moments I would see Brenda...I could hardly sit still :)

Homemade Pretzels

This blog is for Randy so he has something to see from home; he gets on me if I haven't blogged for several days :) Tonight we made homemade pretzels from Yoders. I'm surprised I was able to take a picture of them on a plate... as soon as they come from the oven, they're gone. The Little men love them! When you come home next Randy, I'll make some just for you♥ Miss you and we send our love.

Target Practice Day

Today was target practice day and a beautiful fall day it was. I had been saving our tin cans for a while; Scott set up the targets in the field. Everyone got to shoot.... even hitting the tin cans. We came in and sat around the table eating chili and scones with honey butter. It was a great day with friends.
